To stain fabric, add 3 tead bags and 2/4 teaspoon vinegar to 1/2 cup boiling water. Let sit for one minute, then squeeze and remove the tea bags. Thoroughly soak your fabric in very cold water. Lay it, dripping wet, over the top of a bowl or pot. Slowly pour the tea on the center of the fabric, blending the edges with a clean, wet paintbrush. (The more you pour, the darker the stain will be.) Let the fabric drip on the bowl for 5 minutes. (If you remove the fabric sooner the tea stain may run.) Lay the fabric flat on an old clean, dry towel to dry. Press the fabric and you are ready to stitch. As teas differ, be sure to experiment on fabric scraps first.
